Sacramental Preparation
Overview of Religious Education
Religious Education at Saint Luke Parish is based on an education model, but one that differs from the academic model with which we are so familiar. Our purpose and mission is to form, inform and transform.

First Reconciliation and First Eucharist
After completion of Grade 1, students begin preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. In the Grade 2 program, students use an appropriate text as well as supplemental materials. Before each sacrament is celebrated students take time away for a mini-retreat. This 2 hour time period gives each child the opportunity to concretely experience the sacrament to be celebrated as well as to be still with God. To help families continue to be the primary educators of their children's faith, several evenings of instruction/enrichment are offered.
Confirmation I and II (Grades 9 and 10)
To prepare young adults to lead healthy, holy, faith-filled lives as members of the Catholic Church, students spend two years to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation. The program is built on the Archdiocese of Boston PREPARING FOR CONFIRMATION Resources and Guidelines manual. In Year 1 students complete a review of the faith paying particular attention to the understanding of the Creed. Students participate in service projects based on the Corporal Works of Mercy; a half-day retreat and enrichment evenings with their parents and sponsors. A variety of learning materials are used. Confirmation II candidates participate in a full day retreat, service projects based on the Corporal Works of Mercy and enrichment evenings with parents and sponsors. Before celebrating the sacrament students write a letter of intention to the pastor. The confirmed are invited and encouraged to become active members in the parish as Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors and so on.
