Renovation Committee
Renovation Committee Report
Over a year ago, a committee was formed to look into the possibility and feasibility of doing some modest renovations to our church. The first thing that the committee did was to hold three open town meetings for members of the parish to offer suggestions of what changes and improvements they would like to see for our church. The committee spent several meetings categorizing and prioritizing all of your suggestions. We then spent several meetings on the process of choosing an architect. Last year, in the fall of 2010, we hired Donham and Sweeney Architects. For the past year, we have been working with the architect to incorporate your suggestions into a design. We also hired an engineering firm, Thompson and Litchner, to do an evaluation of the exterior of the church. This prepared us for the project of this past summer, making the church water-tight by repairing the roof, flashings and masonry. With the church now water-tight, we can turn our attention to the interior.
The architect has recently completed the initial drawings for the improvements of both the upper and lower church. These drawings will be on display in the doors of the church for the next several weeks. You are invited, and we urge you, to examine the drawings to see how your suggestions have been incorporated into the over-all design. If you would like to spend more time studying these drawings, they will be available below.
Documents available to everyone:
- Renovation Ideas
- Lower Level Floor Plan - Option 6
- Upper Level Floor Plan - Option 6
- Proposed Floor Plans as of 12-15-11
- Proposed Perspective Views as of 12-15-11
After the community has had sufficient time to view the drawings, we will host open town meetings to hear from you about the proposed renovations. Please keep in mind that these drawings represent a long range plan. Once the community has given feedback to the committee, the committee will work with the architect to develop more precise drawings and a master plan for the overall project. We look forward to your feedback before going ahead with the next steps of this process.
