4.1 Finance Council

Purpose/Responsibilities: The Finance Council:

-assists the pastor in rendering an account of the finances of the parish to the local ordinary.

-assists the pastor in making appropriate reports to the faithful of the parish at least annually concerning parish revenues and expenditures.

-assists the pastor by providing counsel, when requested, concerning the general care and administration of the parish property and finances.

-prepares and reviews regularly the annual budget of the parish

Activites: N. A.
Training/Requirements: Annual CORI check
Virtus Training (not required, but encouraged)
The ability to read and understand a budget is essential.
Need: Anywhere from three to ten persons make up the council.
How to Participate: Members are appointed by the pastor for a three year term.
Meeting/Serving Commitments: The Finance Council meets once a month on the second Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m.

4.1.1 Collection Counters

Purpose/Responsibilities:

This group of volunteers counts the weekly collection(s), prepares the cash for deposit, records the categories and amounts of donations for the finance council and makes the deposit in the bank.

Activites: N. A.
Training/Requirements: Annual CORI Check
Need: Twenty-four people (Eight teams of three people serving once every eight weeks are needed.)
How to Participate: Appointed by the pastor.
Meeting/Serving Commitments: One Sunday morning every eight weeks.

4.1.2 Facility Maintenance Support Team

Purpose/Responsibilities:

This group of volunteers provides small project assistance as a sharing of time, talent and treasure.

Minor painting, carpentry, electrical work, plumbing are types of service that might be called upon from time to time.

Activites: N. A.
Training/Requirements: Skills more than good intentions are needed.
Electricians and plumbers must be licensed.
Need: Occasional
How to Participate: Let Father Petringa know of your willingness to contribute your time to simple projects.
Meeting/Serving Commitments: Difficult to predict; presumed infrequent.

4.1.3 Capital Improvement Support Team

Purpose/Responsibilities:

This Ad Hoc group advises the pastor and Parish Finance Council in areas of property maintenance and improvements. They help in prioritizing existing needs, soliciting and reviewing bids for work, and assisting the pastor in identifying work to be done in the future.

Activites: N. A.
Training/Requirements: Some knowledge of the trades and/or ability in negotiating contracts is helpful.
Need: Four or five persons with varied backgrounds to be available on an ad hoc basis
How to Participate: Make known to Father Petringa your background and interest.
Meeting/Serving Commitments: Short term, periodic commitment

4.2 Parish Pastoral Council

Purpose/Responsibilities:

The Parish Pastoral Council offers its counsel to the pastor on matters relating to the life of the parish, direction or vision for the future and any other matter for which the pastor seeks its counsel.

Activites: N. A.
Training/Requirements: Annual CORI check
Virtus Training (not required, but strongly encouraged)
Person of Vision and Insight
Need: Ten to twelve persons
How to Participate:

Nomination (by oneself or another parishioner) leads to engagement in a discernment process with other nominees and current members of the parish pastoral Council.

Some members may be appointed by the pastor.

Meeting/Serving Commitments:

The Parish Pastoral Council meets monthly on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the lower church.

Appointment is for a three-year term with the possibility of a second term.
